A major benefit of PHCC membership is the opportunity to meet face-to-face with peers, suppliers and other industry representatives – at local meetings as well as at national conferences, says Dan Foley, owner and president of Foley Mechanical and recipient of the PHCC—National HVAC Contractor of the Year for 2017. In addition to running the business he founded in 2002 and serving on local, state and national association boards, Foley made time to attend CONNECT 2017.

“I’m a hands-on person, so I like to learn about new products by seeing, touching and playing with them while I ask questions, and I get that opportunity at the conference,” says Foley. “I get to sit down with an engineer and talk about the new product face-to-face.”

In addition to learning from seminars and vendors’ product demonstrations, Foley finds that the relationships he develops at CONNECT have long-term benefits. “I have met people that I can call with questions or to discuss problems that I’m having with a product rather than relying on a general technical help line,” he explains. “I’ve also met people who have sent me business when they’ve been asked for recommendations.”

Among Foley’s top takeaways from CONNECT? “I enjoyed watching the apprentice competition, and I am encouraged for the future of our industry,” says Foley. “I also learned about new technology. I spent about half an hour talking with a company about a new manifold system that I am planning to try in my business.”
